Dark Dark Dark - Make Time
“I will build you a boat out of lightning”
Timber Timbre - Lay Down in the Tall Grass
“Lay down in the tall grass
in a flat-bottom boat
Lay down and wait for you
with nothing but a piece of rope
Dreaming every night of you
Shaking at the sight”
I really dig this band’s style.
Dirty Three - Great Waves
“Last boat, stand in a river;
Muddy river, how I love her
Hawk flying is fooling his folly
Gas hurricanes spray over Heaven
Weeping willow is bawling the light
On fire.
Humans running for cover,
Wishing for life, gripping the light
House lift up, trees lift up
Cars intersect in the middle of the sky.
O time before, no pull, no gravity on the ground
Givin’ up—it’s over
The world’s weight is over
The limit
Our bodies are exploding
As the sky spills through our mouths.
All the blue blood is flowing
The cities, its contents have been ripped out.
The world is gone.
Did you know it would last this long?
You made it to the dark, now you’re gone.
You are gone.
Great waves
Frozen in a secret space
A great big place,
Dark-spilling universe.
Last boat, stand in the river.”
Moonface - “Dreamland EP: Marimba and Shit-Drums”
New solo work from Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown and Swan Lake. Does this man ever rest?
Click through for a free* download of his new solo EP. Good luck downloading it though, their servers have been slammed all day.

Listening to this now. A really cool long, 20 minute song. Really like it.
Lyle Lovett - If I had a Boat
Kevin Z at DSN is dissing hard on the “On a Boat” song so brought out this classic.
I remember back in high school there was a foreign exchange student from Belarus who gave a little performance after lunch one day, playing the piano and he played this song. Made ita lot for fun and goofy (since thats the type of guy he is) wish I had a recording of his version.
Kings of Convenience - Boat Behind
A nice, sweet sounding song
“Winter and spring
Summer and fall
You’re the wind surfer crossing the ocean and the boat behind
Skiffle and rag, shuffle and waltz
You’re the up tip toe ballerina in the chorus line:
Singing
Ohohohoh, I could never belong to you
River and sea, picking up salt
Through the air there’s a fluffly cloud falling down as rain
Ohohohoh, I could never belong to you”
Mum - Oh, How The Boat Drifts (via morrmusic)
“oh, how the boat drifts
oh, how the tides shift
i lie my head in
i hear it coming
oh, how the wave breaks on your body”
Sunny afternoon (live) KINKS (via kinkkinda)
Been waiting for nice weather to post this song. Two and a half days of straight sun here in Cape Cod, the most of seen in three months here.
Torngat - Turtle Eyes & Fierce Rabbit
My crew occasionally helps out Mass Audobon looking for diamondback terrapins nests in the sand near the bay in Wellfleet. They are considered threatened here in Mass and endangered in RI. There were hunted since they were very popular to eat.
Also Fierce Rabbit seemes like it would be a good name for a small boat, it’s no Grabass, but maybe good for a zippy zodiac.
JOSH PYKE: Make You Happy (via ivyleaguerecords)
Looks like so much fun, fits the boat theme (that just ended)
