When I was a freshman in college, I wanted to make a rock band that covered classical music. A few years later I saw this post on WFMU about a japanese surf rock band that had the same idea. Thankfully they are awesome, this has become one of my most listened to albums. Go to the site and download the songs, they are great.
Under the pull of this high tide Thinking about the old days Thinking about these lines
February down by the shore The waters never freeze Despite the ice and snow The snow up to your knees Bright grey sky, make your eyes feel sore As you walk into the breeze All you had to know You knew when you were three”
A little weird, I planned to post this song when I listened to it on my mp3 player on the plane back to portland today and after I took a 5 hour nap back at my place, I woke up to city covered in snow when it was clear when I arrived. A little discombobulating, but I still love waking up to fresh snow. If Real Estate does not relax you, you might need help.
D: of the Day: Vic Chesnutt is in a coma and now Spinner is reporting that he’s passed. So far no other major outlets are following their lead, and Spinner’s only source is the notoriously unreliable Examiner.
Dear Death: Vic isn’t ready and neither am I. Go the fuck away.
"well you drive the corner with me in the passenger seat just drive until the gas runs out with the sand underneath our feet forget about our families and everything the music brings just dance beneath the moon and stars only wine passes our teeth
cause you are a sailor and i am the sea you’ve walked on dry, dry land and now live underneath with me and all my crazy friends who dont care much for me

Well I’m off for the holidays first to New Orleans then back home in Jersey. Updates will continue to be spotty as they have been like usual. Back to unemployment today, as well, so maybe more frequent updates come new year?
For the second year in a row author Patrick Rothfuss, of Name of the Wind fame (if you havent read it its a really great fantasy novel that came out over a year ago) has put toghter this great fundraiser where you not only feel good about giving ducks, pigs, water buffalo to people/villages around the world, but you will also get a prize in return, probably! For ever ten bucks you put it your name gets put in a drawing of a huge list of prizes. So go donate! I just did.
"Want the chance to win fabulous prizes while making the world a better place?
Well today’s your lucky day.
Until January 15th, I’m matching 50% of everything that’s donated to Heifer International.
Even better, authors and publishers from around the world are providing prizes for people that participate. Currently, we’re giving away more than 30,000 dollars worth of books. Signed stuff. Limited edition stuff. Out of print stuff.
If you want to see the books or get details about how to donate, you should check out the blog:
"there was no one all around there was no one there but me i was staring out a window i was standing by the sea the waves kept on repeating each one crashing to the shore and my footprints nowhere leading as they disappeared once more your senses are bombarded by the roaring that you hear in a shell, you can hear the ocean when you put it up to your hear “
My laptop speakers are severely lacking in how loud I can play this. Ever since I saw Bob Mould live I’ve been on a little Husker Du, older punk, kick.
