1.Tom Waits - Lucinda/Ain’t Going Down To The Well (Atlanta) (via 616Hell)
“Now, her hair was as black as a bucket of tar
her skin as white as a cuttlefish bone”
Man I need to see Tom Waits live.

I could watch this all day.
Lyle Lovett - If I had a Boat
Kevin Z at DSN is dissing hard on the “On a Boat” song so brought out this classic.
I remember back in high school there was a foreign exchange student from Belarus who gave a little performance after lunch one day, playing the piano and he played this song. Made ita lot for fun and goofy (since thats the type of guy he is) wish I had a recording of his version.
Air Waves - Waters
“Laying around on the shore
They came to take us away”
Frog Eyes - Bells in the Crooked Pot
“oh water in the town water in the sound - water takes the valleys and it puts them in the ground”
Being a non-scientific exploration of the musical sub-strata on which one of my favorite bands has stood.

Alec K. Redfearn and The Seizures - Maria
“She is down among the jellyfish and shipwrecks and debris”
More fellow Rhode Islanders! Sadly never got to see him played when he was back playing with The Eyesores, I really loved those albums.
From their Myspace page
“The Seizures are the latest Alec K. Redfearn project. We are not a “pirate band”. We are not “Gypsy Punk”. We are not interested in genres. There are no guitars. All guitar-like sounds are made by the accordion and ukulele. We’ve disposed of all sentimentality for this round. We’re not feeling much love these days. The world is an ugly place an it will only get worse. We grow more disgusted and disappointed by the day. Perversion and despair are our bread and butter. Welcome aboard.”
